The Will Power of One Man

Author’s Note: This essay is about “will power” and not only being able to make the right choices in life but the smart one’s as well.

Many average American don’t have very good will power to make the right choices in their life time. Some people don’t have a role model to tell them not to make bad decisions. Some of the decisions are so drastic that they go to jail or worse maybe even death. But in the book Hatchet Brian is one of the hand full of people the has the will power to survive a life changing journey.

Brian is life a very famous person that has enormous will power. George Washington. He was a man that had enough will power to take responsibility for a whole nation. Brian is like this because when he was fling to Canada the pilot had a heart attack and died. Brian had to take the controls and land the plane in the middle of the forest. As if that wasn’t enough now he has to find his way back to civilization on his own with only a hatchet.

In the end Brian was looking for a  way out of the forest and had to have huge amount of will power to survive and I think that he could survive anywhere at any time

Survival in The Desert

I think that Ben will escape from Madec and the desert in time and will alert the police or FBI.  This will happen because Ben wanted to tell the police about how Madec shot the old man and left him for dead. Instead Madec had another idea. Madec tried to kill Ben so that Madec won’t get arrested for shooting at Ben and the old man. Years later Ben will eventually go back to living a normal life and will try to forget what had happened when Madec attacked him and the inanest man.

This can relate to another book called Red Hot High-Tops. The main character is a girl on her middle school basket ball team finds a pair of red Nike high-top that aren’t hers. Her friend wants her to do the right thing and return them but she doesn’t want to do that because the shoes are helping her do better so then she tells the coach about them and she decides to return them kind of like Ben. But over all I think that Ben will end up escaping and doing the right thing by telling the police.

The Story of Cole "Sprite Boy"

In Touching Sprit Bear Cole is a troubled boy dealing with problems with the law and everyone else around him. Because of his actions he is sent to North Western Alaska for a year on his own by a program called The Circle Justice. The Circle Justice is a program where they help people to realize what bad they have done and help them correct that. In the process he meets a Native Indian legend called Sprite Bear.To survive the Alaskan wilderness Cole must listen to the sprite bear and admit to what pain and suffering he has caused others. Also to take responsibility for his actions.

Not only did the bear attack him but  I also think he taught him a lesson because Cole believed that it was other peoples fault that made him do this not his own. To  survive the Alaskan wilderness Cole must listen to the bear and admit to what pain he has caused others and take responsibility for his actions.
I think that Cole learn from the bear that you have to play the cards that you are dealt. Also he needs to forgive and forget because if he had done these things maybe he wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place.

I think that this would also affect Peter who he bullied as well, after he attacked him in the parking lot at school. It could also affect his classmates to thinking and believing that Cole is not only a better person but has a better soul. I think that I can relate Cole in another book that I had read, it is called The Hunger Games. Because in that book Katniss takes responsibility of being a older sibling because she volunteers for her sister in the Reaping for the Hunger Games.

Reflecting Pool

I think that in the story that the wind was coming from the reflecting pool and that  the next time she looks into the mirror she will see the old woman. One reason that this could happen is because when she asked for the job she said that she wasn't suppose to take anything and she did. Another reason this could happen is because when see took the jewelry everything started to disappear, and then the wind blew.

Patriots Pen Essay

I am very proud of my country. A lot of other countries are poor and want to have what we have. Another reason that I am proud of my country is because if any other country is in need of help our country will be there to help that country. I wish every country could have people who protect their country and help them whenever they are in danger.

Also other countries don’t have a source of food and or clean drinking water.  Other countries are poor and can’t do anything about it. Also their government is too greedy and won’t help any of their people if they are in need of help. Our country is lucky enough to have a good government to help us in our time of need and when we are in danger.

Our military I believe is one of the best in the world. Because if a other country attacks our country our military will be there to protect us in minutes. America has been a lot in the past few years with the terrorists. America has been looking for the people that have caused the 9/11attack on New York in the Twin Towers. Over time America has prevailed and we kill Osama Bin Laden and Schiedam Usane. Another reason that I think that our military is one of the best is because we have so many different types of uses for the one military

So in conclusion yes I am very proud of my country. I am also proud of every man and women who serve this country and all who have died for it.

Cause/ Effect

Author's Note: This is a piece analyzing the causes and effects of WWII as seen in the novel D-Day, by Anthony Beevor.

n the book D-Day, the author, Antony Beevor, will tell you about the stories of soldiers that fought in WW II, from 1939 through 1945.  You will also learn more about the history of WWII. This book will teach you about hard times and learning to trust people that you will work with for years to come.

This book is much like the book”World War II”. It tells you about the hard life of some soldiers in the war and what had happened. It will also tell you about the stories of veterans of the war and soldiers that are in the war now in Iraq. Some of this book will teach you the tactics of the enemy and America’s tactics. Also it will give you some of the journals that some of the soldiers had written in the war to their families.

WWII was one of the most frightening battles in US history. Everyone that had a relative that was in the war can relate to the pain of those who fought in WWII. Both countries in the end regretted that either country started that war. There was over 6 million casualties in WWII and could have been prevented.

My grandpa was in WWII so I can relate to those people who were scared for the loved ones in the war. My grandpa told me stories of how he was saved by a little Chinese boy in Omaha after he was shot and got left behind by his whole platoon. Then he told me how when he went up onto the beach and most of his friends got shot while he just stared and watched. When he said that he left he wished it was him down dead on that beach and not his friends.

Hunger Games Conflict and Resolution

                                                  Hunger Games Conflict and Resolution

The conflict in Hunger Games is that a girl named Katniss is going to go to the hunger games instead of her little sister Prim. I think that this can be resolved by Katniss refusing to go to do the Hunger Games or win it. One way she can do this is by not fighting anybody or not getting killed.

Another way she can is by trying to form an alliance with people that she can trust of be able to beat later in the Games. Also she can try to protest against the person who rules the Hunger Games.

Retelling Piece

Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everden who is forced to enter the Hunger Games because her sister  got picked in the reaping and volunteers for her. She ends up meeting a boy named Peta who is also from her district and they fight together in the Hunger Games. In the end only one of them can win.

The Hit That Changed It All

I remember the day like it was yesterday. It was a warm summers day. My baseball team the Pewaukee Pirates had a tournament that day at Five Fields. We went in there knowing that it would be a tough that we would be playing tough teams.

We were wining all the games up until the semi-finals. We had to verse Waunakee. They were much harder than the other teams. When we played the first inning we were couldn't make an outs. After the first inning it was 3 to 1. We were starting to lose this game. All of my teammates were thinking that we are going to lose, but after a couple more innings things were looking better, the score was 6 to 5 in the ninth inning. It was the last inning. We ended up tying them 6 to 6. Then we went into extra innings.

They put the California rule into effect. Which means the batting team starts out with a man on 2nd and one out. We held them for there at bat. Then it was our turn. So my teammate in front of me got to go on second base. So when I was up to bat the first pitch was a ball and the catcher missed the ball so my teammate stole 3rd. Then he threw it 4 more pitches. Two were strikes and 2 were balls. The count was full. Then pressure was on. I stepped up to the plate, as he got ready to pitch the ball. Then as I saw the ball leave his hand I thought about all the time that is I had let my team down but not doing what I was supposed to do. But this time it was going to be different. Then as I swung the bat as hard as I could,  I heard the pop of the bat as it hit the ball. It hit the ground and when right to the short stop I started to run to first I while I was watching my teammate run to home plate. I looked at him when he slide into the plate. As I stood on first base my team watched suspense, the umpire said safe as I cheered for joy. After my coach ran towards me and lifted me up onto his shoulders as my team cheered for me. So even though we went on to lose the champion chip game I still felt proud about myself for helping my team.

My Favorite Football Player

My favorite football player is Aaron Rodgers because he is the QB of my favorite team the Green Bay Packers. He can throw fast and accurate to the WR. Another reason he is a good QB is because he is a great leader. Also he always thanks the fans and always is respectful to the other team which gets my respect.

My favorite video game

My favorite game is Prototype 2. This game is good because of its graphics and its storyline. In it action, drama, suspense and because its brand new. The main character has to deal with him losing his family and friends because of the plague. The people who made this game must have put a lot of detail and effort into this game. Because this game just came out not many people will buy this but when it is out for a long enough time everyone will learn the good effects of this game.

My least favorite food

My least favorite food is onions. Because the first time it had it tasted horrible. Also it is crunchy and hard. After you are done eating it you get really bad breath. You also have to cut open the onion before you eat it and if some of the juice comes up and hits you in the eye it will sting for hours.

Sports Car Winner

Lamborghini Murcielago because it is fast cool and it cost a lot. Also because it has a high rate of speed at 221 mph and because it is so small it has very little blind spots. It is better than most cars like the Dodge Challenger because of its ability to go from 0 to 60 faster or the Ferrari because of its v12 engine and its ability to make sharp turns and quicker shifts. Also it has its 631 horsepower.  The interior feels like a dream. The outside is built for speed because of its curved shape and aerodynamics.

The Shoes That Changed Every Thing

Just think running up and down a sleek wooden floor dribbling a basketball, shooting and passing the ball to your teammate. Well in the book “Red-Hot High-tops” that exact thing happens to a girl named Kelly Roberts, but whenever she gets the ball she always freezes up.
Until one day after a game something in her locker will change her life and the others around her. The readers will learn that it’s not what’s on the outside but it’d what’s on the inside

Kelly would play every game the same, she would freeze up. Then after a tough loss to another team, she finds a pair of red Nike high-tops. She asked her teammates around her to see if the shoes were anyone’s. They all said the same thing, so she figured she would
try them on. To her surprise they fit perfect! After that game she could not stop thinking about those shoes.

The next game she asked the coach to see if she could where them for the game. She said yes but she said that if she wore them she would have to make at least one bucket. Her teammates where a little jealous though that Kelly got to where her new shoes, and that the other girls didn’t get to where some of the new stuff they wanted to where.

She was put in the game halfway through the first quarter. She threw in the ball to continue the game. Just seconds later she was open at the other teams bucket. Her teammate passed her the ball. As she was waiting there with the ball. She thought then and there that she would freeze up. But then as she heard the pounding of basketball shoe behind her Kelly got enough courage to shoot the ball. As the crowd and her teammates watch the basketball fly off the backboard into the hoop.

The point of this story is that it’s not what’s on the outside it’s what is on the inside. I believe that Kelly learned that lesson in the whole basketball season.

Alaska's Wilderness Save or Drill

Author's Note: In this story we will learn that weather to drill or not to drill in Alaska's Wilderness.

I believe that we shouldn’t drill for oil in Alaska’s wilderness, because if we do drill there it will only decrease the foreign oil income by 4%. Also if we do it will destroy the environment. So I believe that we should not drill in Alaska’s Wilderness.

If we decide to drill in Alaska then it will cost billions to move equipment, ship the oil and to pay the workers. Even if it creates jobs then they will have to make more homes in the area for the workers and their families to live. When they are done drilling for oil then it will also take billions to move the materials back to where ever they got them from.

When they start to drill for oil in Alaska, then it will start to destroy their ecosystem. Plus all the animals and other things that live in the wilderness will start to die off; animals like elk, deer, bears, foxes and other animals die or move away because of the pollution. Also then the environment will start to be destroyed and they will lose some of their resources.

It will affect the people of Alaska because it will destroy some of their valuable resource. Some of the resources they will lose will be their water sources and fire wood. Also if people want to go out in the wilderness they can’t because they don’t have one.

Gunslingers Regret

Imagine a boy whose father dies trying to protect his own son. In this story of “The Dark Tower” by Stephen King, a man named Roland Deschain is following in his father’s footsteps by becoming a gunslinger. As he leaves his camp where he is being trained to become a warrior with his hawk, he knows that he needs to leave and find out what happened to his father. In this story the reader will learn about how sometimes things will happen for a reason.

In the town that Roland lives in it is a bad thing to become a gunslinger. He knows that he doesn’t want to become a gunslinger but he wants to get revenge on the man who killed his father. As he is trying to make his decision the man who is keeping watch over him is trying to kill him. That is when he makes his decision to become a gunslinger. This reminds me of when I was little my friend broke my favorite toy and so I was going to get revenge and break his toys.

His mother was never there when he was growing up so when he was growing up all he had was himself.  His childhood was hard because nobody could help if he was behind in school. As he went on through the years he struggled more and got better in school.
I can relate to this because I am having a hard time with school but I am trying my hardest to stay on topic.

In the end I believe that some certain things in life will happen for a reason good or bad. Even though his father died he still was fine.
